Composite Lab
Date of establishment: 10th August 2016

SoE, NSOU Kalyani Campus is the Study Centre (H.I) for B.Ed. Spl Ed (I.D/H.I/V.I)-ODL, since 2015-16 session & Study Centre (I.D) for B.Ed. Spl. Ed.(I.D/H.I/V.I)-ODL from 2019-20 session, a RCI & UGC recognised programme of the University. The B.Ed. Spl. Ed. programme aims to develop Special Education Teachers/Educators for differently-abled children in various settings (including Inclusive, Special, Open School and Home Based Education). The B.Ed. (Special Education) programme prepares human resources to enable them to acquire knowledge and develop competencies and skills to impart education and training effectively to children with special needs. This two & a half year programme has 30% weightage allocated for various practical activities in the curriculum. Being a study centre, it is well equipped with Audio & Speech Intervention lab, TLM Lab or Resource room, Psychology Lab and Art & Craft lab. All are made available for the learners to fulfil the curricular& extracurricular requirements. This composite laboratory will also serve learners/ trainees of M.Ed. Spl. Ed.-ODL, B.Ed.-ODL (General) as well as undergraduate and post graduate programs of Education.

In view of this, SoE possess Composite Lab (that subsumes Audio & Speech Intervention lab, TLM Lab or Resource room, Psychology Lab and Art & Craft Lab) which provides the learners with the facilities to work practically. The Teachers & learners use these labs to partake their practical activities. However, most of the components under this composite Lab are presently suited for the B.Ed. Special Education learners.

General Objectives:
  • Acquire skills about pedagogy and assessment for teaching-learning & contextual psychological tools & techniques (professional development).
  • Acquire skills about nature and educational needs of children with disabilities as well as of specific disabilities (professional development).
  • Develop skills for working with children with various disabilities in Special and inclusive settings (professional development).
  • To support furtherance of research in relevant field.
  • To develop aesthetic sense.

Specific Objectives:
  • To enable the learners/traineesgain better understanding for conducting psychological experiments.
  • To give practical experiences to learners/trainees.
  • To enable the learners/trainees to apply systematic method for the solution of psychological, social & experiential problems or issues.
  • To apply the suitable techniques& teaching-learning resources in context.
  • To focus on the assessment and rehabilitation of voice disorders, articulation disorders, resonance, fluency disorders, screening, intervention, referral & speech therapy.
  • To get acquainted & use the various apparatuses of the audiological test and allied tools of speech intervention lab.
